Brief History

The University of Nairobi Clinical Research Centre (UNCRC) was established in 2023 as a clinical research centre in the strategic area of Medical Physiology within the Department of Human Anatomy and Medical Physiology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi.

 

UNCRC is conducting its first clinical trial in collaboration with the Respiratory Infectious Disease Unit (RIDU) at the Kenyatta National Hospital with laboratory support and mentorship from the KAVI-Institute of Clinical Research (KAVI–ICR).

 

UNCRC through the Strategic Area of Medical Physiology in the Department of Human Anatomy and Medical Physiology at the Chiromo Campus, is supporting basic and clinical research methodology focusing on grant writing and statistical analysis capacity building for intercalating undergraduate students intercalating and postgraduate students in medical physiology.

 

UNCRC also provide support in training in cell biology and immunobiology by co-teaching courses among residents and providing support in epidemiology and biostatistics to the Department of Computing and Informatics and Department of Economics and Development Studies at the University of Nairobi.

 

UNCRC is looking to work with local, regional and international partners in the public and private centre to address multisectoral needs for greater impact in Africa.
